'n Swart, wit en grys kiewiet met lang swart bene. Dit eet insekte, wurms en slakkies.
Waar by die skool? Kyk op die sportvelde, veral naby water of nat gras.
Wil jy weet? Sy roep klink soos 'n hamer op 'n aambeeld – "tink-tink-tink" – daarom is sy Engelse naam "Blacksmith" (smid).

A black, white and grey lapwing with long black legs. It eats insects, worms and small snails.
Where at school? Look on the sports fields, especially near water or wet grass.
Did you know? Its call sounds like a hammer on an anvil – "tink-tink-tink" – which is why it is called the Blacksmith Lapwing.
