This bird lives here all year round.
Afrikaans
Waar by die skool? Kyk op heinings, drade en lae takke.
Wil jy weet?
English
A black-and-white bird with a white "V" on its back and a hooked bill. It catches insects, lizards, mice and small birds.
Where at school? Look on fences, wires and low branches.
Did you know? It spikes its prey on thorns or barbed wire, like a butcher hanging meat – which is why it is called a "butcher bird".
