Afrikaans

Waar by die skool?

English

A large grey-brown ibis with a long curved bill and a shiny green-purple patch on its wings. It pushes its bill deep into the ground to catch worms and grubs.

Where at school? You will see it on the lawns – and hear it even earlier!

Did you know? Its name comes from its loud call, "ha-ha-hadeda!", especially early in the morning.
