This bird lives here all year round.
Afrikaans
'n Klein bruin voëltjie met fyn strepies, 'n rooi bek en 'n rooi streep deur die oog. Dit eet grassaadjies.
Waar by die skool? Kyk vir groepies in lang gras en riete.
Wil jy weet? 'n Groep sysies vlieg saam soos 'n klein wolkie en roep dun "tsip-tsip"-geluidjies na mekaar.
English
A small brown bird with fine barring, a red bill and a red stripe through the eye. It eats grass seeds.
Where at school? Look for small groups in long grass and reeds.
Did you know? A flock of waxbills flies together like a little cloud, calling thin "tsip-tsip" notes to each other.
